The Competition Coach Program is often the first “level” of education for coaches who plan to coach competitive teams in Canada. Coaches who plan to coach junior athletes competing at the U18 or U20 level usually require this designation, as do coaches who plan to pursue further education like the Competition Development Program. In this Pilot, the Competition Coach program’s training is offered entirely online using this platform, except for a one-day in-person evaluation once the online portions have been completed.

Curling Canada recognizes that the sport of Curling is dynamic and continues to evolve. Coaches are encouraged to understand and recognize that coach training is a life-long learning process in which knowledge and skills develop and adapt to an ever-changing environment that includes new developments in research and sport science. A commitment to an athlete-centred approach that combines coach experience with curiosity about updated tools and techniques will help each coach adapt and grow.
